The Year Seven Super Series was held in tough and unpredictable weather conditions at the Kingsway Sports Complex. All the teams, coaches and support staff who attended need to be congratulated for their spirit and approach to handling the tough weather conditions.

Congratulations to Peter Moyes Anglican School for their 4:1 win over Kingsway Christian College and being awarded champions of the ACC Stan Lazaridis Shield. Irene McCormack Catholic College and Peter Moyes Anglican School met one another at a rescheduled time to compete in the final for the Sam Kerr Shield.

The community support from both schools was wonderful with each team bringing a lively and excited group of spectators, who were completely enthralled in a tight game and emotional finish. Peter Moyes had an early lead which they held for most of the game until the last 5 minutes of play when Irene McCormack kicked 2 late goals to finish the normal playing time with both teams a draw on 3 goals. The match was forced into overtime and Peter Moyes kicked the early goal again before Irene McCormack levelled the scores for a second time. It was an unbelievable finish to the series with the final result being decided by penalty goals.

Both teams are to be congratulated for their determination during the game and their outstanding sportsmanship and the way they represented their respective schools.

Congratulations to Irene McCormack Catholic College 2016 ACC Sam Kerr Shield Champions.
