The 2021 ACC Boys Hockey Challenge produced some excellent games. All games were played in a wonderful competitive spirit with some outstanding, high quality games.
Division 2 Boys
Participating schools in the Div 2 boys competition were Mazenod, Ellenbrook, Mandurah CC, Sacred Heart, St Mark's and Corpus Christi.
Grand Final
The grand final was a hard fought game with St Mark's striking two early goals in the first 5 minutes of the game. Mazenod then regrouped quickly and started to even up the contest with some excellent defense and midfield play. Both teams earning short corners in the second half that could have easily landed scores. Eventually the defense of St Mark's held firm and this resulted in the 2-0 result with the early goals proving pivotal.
Division 1 Boys
Particpating Schools in the Div 1 boys competition were Newman, CBC Fremantle, Nagle, John XXIII, Bunbury Grammar and St Stephen's Duncraig.
Grand Final
The grand final was an excellent game to watch with both teams having powerful line ups. Both teams had opportunities to score during regulation time and both teams earned short corners during the added extra time. It was a credit to the excellent goal keepers and defenses of the teams that were water tight under pressure. Ultimately, CBC claiming a great Division 1 victory holding their nerve to take out the final penalties in a heart stopping finish!
