There was a great atmosphere at the 2021 ACC Girls Hockey Challenge with all girls' teams playing some fast and free flowing hockey. Plenty of fantastic goals were scored and teams should be commended with the spirit and sportsmanship displayed between players.
Division 2 Girls
Participating schools in the Div 2 girls competition were Nagle, Ellenbrook, Mandurah CC, Ursula Frayne, St Stephen's Duncraig and Sacred Heart.
Grand Final
The grand final was a thrilling game with St Stephen's striking early in the second half for a 1-0 lead. Sacred Heart then clicking into gear as they searched for the equaliser eventually finding the net with less than 30 seconds in regulation time remaining. The game finishing in a thrilling draw and having to be decided via penalties where St Stephen's were able to claim the sensational victory.
Division 1 Girls
Particpating Schools in the Div 1 girls competition were Newman, Bunbury Grammar, Mercedes, Guildford Grammar, John XXIII and St Mark's.
Grand Final
The grand final was a brilliant game to watch with some elite young school aged hockey talent taking to the field from both teams. St Mark's striking twice with decisive blows in the first half that sliced through the Bunbury Grammar defense. Bunbury Grammar lifted in offense as they started to gain more possession, however, St Mark's all round team defense and midfield were able to safely secure the ball and shut down the attacking opportunities. St Mark's claiming a great Division 1 victory backing up the St Mark's boys taking out the Division 2 last week!
Finals Results
Div 2: St Stephen's Duncraig def Sacred Heart 1-1 (Penalties).
Div 1: St Mark's def Bunbury Grammar 2-0.
