AFL School Carnivals

During Terms 2 and 3 the ACC conduct three AFL competitions.

The first is the Yr 10 School Boys Cup played in Term 2. This is a competition involving a series of one day regional lightning carnivals coordinated by School Sport WA and the Associated and Catholic Colleges of WA.  Teams are made up of Year 10 male students.

In 2013, there were three separate carnivals and an interschool sports competition;

  • South Carnival (Ferndale Reserve & Sutherlands Park) – Wednesday 19th June
  • South West Carnival (Hay Park, Bunbury) – Friday 21st June
  • NAS Sub-Association - Term 2

The winners of each carnival for 2013 played in the regional finalists' Carnival against the government school winners on Tuesday 6th August at UWA Sports Park.  Newman College played against Darling Range Sports College in the Grand Final for this carnival and Darling Range took the cup.  Well done to Newman College for making it to the Grand Final, and to Clontarf College, Carey Baptist College and Bunbury Catholic College who also qualified for this Competition.

The second competition is the Year 7 Freo Dockers Shield conducted in Term 3.  The ACC in conjunction with the WAFC offered three Yr 7 Carnivals for 2013:

  • South Carnival - Boys A (Ferndale Reserve) - Wednesday 7th August
  • South Carnival - Boys B (Ferndale Reserve) - Wednesday 7th August
  • North Carnival - Boys (Lightning Park) - Friday 2nd August

The winners of each boy's carnival played in a Grand Final Carnival held at the Fremantle Football Club Oval on Wednesday 14th August.  The winner came down to the last round between CBC Fremantle and Sacred Heart College with a close final result of Sacred Heart 51 defeating CBC 40.

The third competition was the girl's Freo's Docker's Cup Carnival also held in term 3.  The competition took place at Ferndale Reserve on Wednesday 7th August and the winner was Corpus Christi College. Well done to all teams who participated.  It was another successful year for this competition.
