Combined Government Schools, Representative XI VS Associated and Catholic Colleges, Representative XI

Wednesday 8th March 2017 - WACA

Result: Associated and Catholic Colleges, Representative XI (9/273) defeated the Combined Government Schools, Representative XI (7/238)

Player of the match Adam Disisto - ACC - Mazenod

ACC captain Tristan Hobley won the toss and batted first, looking to put a big score on the board and build the pressure on the opposition. The ACC got off to a steady start with the bat losing only a couple of wickets in the first 15 overs. The match winning partnership was then bullt around terrific innings from opener Adam Disisto (94 off 130 balls) and wicketkeeper-batsman Emile Van de Merwe (76 off 57 balls). Some solid hitting from middle order batsman Damian Burrage (45 off 42 balls) assisted in building a strong total that would be very tough to chase down. The ACC closed its innings at 9/278 off its 50 overs.

Best batters for ACC:

Adam Disisto 94 runs (130 balls, 9x4s)

Emile Van de Merwe - 76 runs (57 balls, 9x4s and 1x6)

Damien Burrage - 45 runs (42 balls, 6x4s)

In reply, the State School team got off to a steady opening partnership before fast bowler Damien Burrage made two strikes in close succession. These wickets, combined with some outstanding fielding, set the State Schools back in the run chase and made scoring more difficult. A strong ten over spell from left arm paceman Liam Henderson tightened the run chase whilst fellow pace bowlers Luke Goodman and Lachlan O'Callaghan also made valauble in roads into the middle order wickets column. Spin bowlers Tristan Hobley and Thomas Evans applied pressure throughout the middle to late overs and ensured that victory was going to be falling in favour of the ACC. In a match turning moment, Evans found enough turn and bounce grabbing the outside edge and the key wicket of the State School captain just as the match was heading towards a tight finish. The State Schools eventually falling just short in the chase at 7/238.

It was an absolutely fantastic game of cricket and the boys should be extremely proud in the way they represented their school and the ACC.

Best bowlers for ACC:

Damien Burrage - 2/31 (7 overs)

Luke Goodman - 2/49 (10 overs)

Tristan Hobley - 1/33 (8 overs)
