ACC I and J Athletics Carnivals going ahead

The weather report for Wednesday and Thursday this week is not ideal, but we will be going ahead with the J and I carnivals. Rain, wind, hail, or thunderstorms will not cancel the carnival. If things change and there is a severe weather warning issued by BOM, then the ACC will reconsider. During the carnivals if anything poses a danger to student safety, we will pause the carnival or just cancel specific events until the danger clears. The track and field event sites are designed for “all weather” competition so most events will go ahead in the rain. There are marquee shelters placed at all event sites, track marshalling areas and at the north and south ends of the track.

ACC advises that schools should brief students and officials to bring warm and wet weather clothing.  A spare set of dry clothing to put on once their events are finished is also a good idea. Seek shelter where possible in the marquees provided on the arena and in the seats towards the back of the grandstand if the weather is squally.

If there is any change to this advice ACC will issue an alert to school Sports Coordinators via SMS.
