2019 ACC cricket captain Jordan Middleton had the team in the field and looking to make some early in roads with the new ball. Opening bowler Samuel Greer set the tone early will a lively spell of bowling claiming an early wicket which was quickly followed up by a wicket for Shiven Appasamy. After the initial wickets, the ACC bowling unit pulled together providing a fantastic team effort and made regular strikes to keep the State Schools innings in check. Bowler of the match was spinner Elliot Morris who took three key wickets during the middle overs that put the ACC into a strong position. Morris was super economical in his spell and was well supported at the other end by Kieran Coyne, Rajit Bose and spinner Andrew Nicholson. The ACC fielding was also a high standard with many run saving efforts on the fast WACA outfield eventually closing the State Schools innings at 9 for 184.

Best bowlers for ACC:

Elliot Morris (Mater Dei) - 3/16 (10 overs, including 4 maidens)

Samuel Greer (Seton College) - 2/32 (10 overs)

Shiven Appasamy (Peter Moyes ACS) - 2/20 (5 overs)

In reply, The ACC got off to a good start in the first 15 overs with a solid opening partnership of 47 between Claus Lotter and Douwtjie Hoogenboezem. Both young players displaying excellent technique and temperament against the new ball. Kieran Coyne batting at number three made 24 from 35 balls to keep the momentum with the batting side in the chase. The ACC batting then had many small middle order partnerships that inched the total closer to the State Schools first innings total. A couple of strong late blows from Andrew Nicholson including a huge six eventually getting the ACC to the required target with about 5 overs to spare. Young opener Douwtjie Hoogenbozem showing that he is a star on the rise after he carried his bat with 85 not out leading the ACC to a wonderful victory for 2019.

Best batters for ACC:

Douwtjie Hoogenboezem (Kennedy Baptist) 85 runs not out (119 balls, 10x4s)

Kieran Coyne (Prendiville) - 24 runs (35 balls, 3x4s)

Claus Lotter (Court Grammar) - 19 runs (31 balls, 4x4s)

It was a fantastic game of cricket and the players should be extremely proud in the way they represented their school and the association.

A huge thankyou to the efforts of coach Chris Quelch (Carmel School) and to the Manager Ross Macauley (Kennedy Baptist). Also thankyou to the 2019 selectors Caolan Dodgson (Lumen Christi) and Darryn Longbottom (Swan Valley ACS).

Finally also a thankyou to the WACA for a wonderful experience for our top ACC cricketers which included using the Perth Scorchers changerooms and playing facilities for the day.
