 The Government announced yesterday a significant easing of restrictions in the Perth and Peel region effective from 12.01am Saturday 8 May until 12.01am Saturday 15 May.

MASKS

From 12.01am on Saturday 8 May masks will only be required on public transport, or at events and venues with more than 1,000 people, and in hospital, disability and aged care facilities.

School staff and secondary school students will no longer be required to wear masks.

ACC SPORT OPERATIONS EFFECTIVE FROM 12.01AM SATURDAY 8 MAY UNTIL 12.01AM SATURDAY 15 MAY

Indoor venues and activities

Masks are mandatory for indoor venues with over 1,000 adult attendees. Medical exemptions still apply.

Indoor facilities including school halls, gymnasiums, libraries, community centres, museums, galleries, and recreation centres may operate, observing the physical distancing requirements for adults.

Outdoor venues and activities

Adult spectators and officials are required to wear masks at outdoor events with over 1,000 adult attendees.

MASK RESTRICTIONS THAT APPLY UNTIL 12.01AM SATURDAY 8 MAY

Students in Years 7 to 12 who engage in strenuous INDOOR exercise or physical activity are required to wear a mask (e.g. indoor netball), while those engaging in strenuous OUTDOOR exercise or physical activity (e.g. football) are NOT required to    wear a mask.

As per the Western Australian Police directions, students in Year 7 regardless of age

MUST wear a mask.

Physical Education teachers and sport coaches are also required to wear a mask at all times; however, they can remove their masks when engaged in strenuous OUTDOOR exercise or physical activity and when teaching/enunciating.
