Athletics West - ACC Cross Country Opportunity 16 August

Tuesday, 4 August, 2020 - 12:43
Printer-friendly version

The ACC has negotiated an opportunity with Athletics West for any ACC students to run in an all-comers 3km or 4km race at the State Cross Country Championships at Kings Park on Sunday 16th August 7am-9am. Results from this event will be used by the ACC for our Virtual Cross Country to select our 2020 All Stars XC team. ACC students do not have to be a member of Athletics West to register for these events.

ACC students will compete as individuals – this is not a SCHOOL team. Parent/guardian permission is required for registration and supervision at the event. The event is also open to multi-class PARA athletes who have a classification code with Athletics Australia.

If the student cannot make the event on the 16th August then they need to contact Jake Trewin at Athletics West (contact below) and he will try and arrange an alternative event at one of the other upcoming Athletics West/Little Athletics cross country winter events. https://www.athleticswest.com.au/aw-events/winter/

Although the event is part of the Athletics West State Championships, the 3km and 4km all comers event for ACC students is not eligible for the State Championship.

All the details are listed below  and students need to register ASAP through Athletics West following the procedures below.

Kings Park Cross Country Event (Athletics West State Championships) – ACC All-Comers Events

  • Sunday 16 August
  • Kings Park
  • 4km Event (male) – 7:30am
  • 3km Event (female) – 8:20am
  • These athletes are to register as a non-member and select either the all comers 3km race for the females or the all comers 4km race for the males.
  • The entry fee is $20 per athlete.
  • Uniform: If they are to compete at this event we ask them to wear their school sport uniform or athletic singlet. We will provide them with a bib.
  • They do not need to login, they must go straight to basic details and start filling in the form from there.
  • When they get to Tick Types, they select All-Comers and then they select either the 3km event or 4km event depending on their gender.
  • All Comers events are not eligible for State Championships.
  • All-comers events are open to non-members of Athletics West.

Kings Park Cross Country Event (Athletics West State Championships) – State Championship Events

  • ACC students that are planning to compete in the following State Championship events may still do so and these results will count towards the ACC All Star selection process, as the distance matches the ACC race distances. These students do not have to compete in both the all-comers and state championship events.
    • Under 14 Championship 3km (male and female)
    • Under 16 Championship 4km (male only)
    • U15 / U17 / U20  Women’s Para 3km
  • All other State Championship events are not eligible as ACC All Star qualifiers as the event distances do not match.
  • ACC Students that wish to compete for the state championships over a distance that is not 3km/ 4km for their age/gender, can enter the 3km or 4km at a subsequent Athletics West/Little Athletics Cross Country event (details available online at https://www.athleticswest.com.au/aw-events/winter/)
  • State Championship events are open to non-members of Athletics West.

Kings Park Cross Country Event (Athletics West State Championships) – PARA Multi-Class Events

  • ACC multi-class classified PARA athletes can compete at the state championships and all-comers events on the 16th August.
  • To be eligible for ACC All Star selection students must run 4km for male and 3km for female.
  • Register as per above, but please make additional contact with Athletics West to advise them of your multi-class classification details.
