MULTI CLASS AND INCLUSIVE ATHLETES

Eligibility

ACC students with a disability are welcome to compete at their school’s ACC athletics carnival.  Both Multi Class (classified) and Inclusive (non-classified) athletes are eligible to participate.  Athletes will compete within their own age group and gender category, and follow standard marshalling procedures for their nominated event/s.

Events (General)

Multi-class and Inclusive athletes can participate in all track and field carnival events. For certain events, a discussion may be needed to ensure the athlete’s needs are accommodated appropriately.

Track Events

Athletes will use external lanes if available, i.e. lane 9 for long track and lane 4 for short track.  If selected as part of the school team, they will compete in the school’s assigned lane.  If no lanes are available, an additional race will be scheduled

Field Events

Multi Class and Inclusive athletes will try last in the school order.  If they are a part of the school team, they will try as per school allocation.

Points and Recognition

Multi Class athlete results will be measured against official Multi Class baseline scoring tables and are eligible for ACC All Stars Athletics Team selection.  Multi Class athletes can contribute to their school’s point tally only if they compete as one of the two nominated age group athletes in that event.  When multiple Multi Class athletes compete in the same event across divisions, the athlete with the highest percentage score will be considered the winner and selected for All Stars.

Inclusive athlete results will not count toward school points or ACC All Stars selection.

Nominations

Multi Class and Inclusive students are nominated via an online team nomination form, managed by each school’s Sports Coordinator. It is the responsibility of the Sports Coordinator to:

  • Identify students competing as Multi Class (MC) or Inclusive athletes
  • Update their status accordingly
  • Nominate the events in which the students will compete

Detailed instructions are provided with the nomination form when it is distributed to schools.  Once the ACC receives all nominations, schools will be contacted with additional information regarding lane allocations, event-specific requirements, and other relevant details.

Multi Class Athlete Classification Process

To compete as a Multi Class athlete, students must be officially classified. To get started, please visit the Athletics Australia website:  Get Classified – Multi Class Athletics .  This website can offer all the information you need for assistance.
