Year 10 Carnivals

This year there was a substantial increase in the year 10 AFL team nominations creating an extra division in both boys’ and girls’ competitions. There were 31 boys’ teams and 29 girls’ team creating 13 carnivals that took place over a three-week period.

The transition from the regional model to the divisional model in 2019 has been the defining factor in the dramatic increase in team nominations over the years.  This has been a very successful initiative.

The Division 1 boys’ and girls’ carnivals produced strong performances from our top schools.  Emmanuel Catholic College won the Eagles Schoolboys Cup and Mandurah Catholic College won the Fremantle Docker’s Cup.  The WAFC provided a representative to present the awards at both venues.  The winning schools from all other carnival divisions were presented with the perpetual shield for their relevant division.

Thank you to the WAFC and associated football clubs for supporting these carnivals. It is great to see growth in a year 10 sporting event as this cohort is traditionally one that records a decrease in sports participation.
