ACC Championship Girls Grand Final Result: South Coast 3 def Mercy 0

The 2021 ACC girls Soccer Championship grand final was held Wednesday 18 August at Litis Stadium (Floreat Athena).

Mercy and South Coast were both very evenly matched defensively and well-structured across the field. The midfield battle was enthralling and both teams had opportunities on fast breakaways. South Coast kicked a decisive first goal prior to half time and then following this up with a quick second goal right on the cusp of half time. The second half was again very tightly contested, and Mercy tried everything to find the net early. Ultimately, it was South Coast who were then able to rebound on the counterattack and land a deciding 3rd goal that would take them to the championship. An elite defensive game from Wilma Thodhlana (South Coast) across the full game topped off as MVP.

ACC Championship Boys Grand Final Result: Servite 1 def Mercy 0

The boys final between Servite and Mercy attracted a tremendous crowd at Litis Stadium on Wednesday 18 August. In a fast and attacking start, Servite scored an outstanding early goal on the front post with some deft touch from a cross coming in from the left wing. It was a momentous and pivotal strike that would ultimately define the game. After this goal, both teams settled into the game and were defensively very sound. Mercy had the best of the attacking forays with the cross bar hit and another near miss on a fast break. Defensively, Servite controlled the tempo in the early to mid-part of the second half. As the time started to wear down the game was on a knife edge with Servite clinging to the 1 goal advantage and every possession taking on extra importance. Ultimately the clock passed and Servite were able to take out a memorable victory over a very strong and determined Mercy team. Congratulations to Servite captain Luke Passeretto for the amazing defensive display behind the ball throughout the game and claiming the MVP award.
