There was a great atmosphere at the 2022 ACC Girls Hockey Challenge with all girls' teams playing some spirited and skilful hockey. Plenty of fantastic goals were scored and teams should be commended for the sportsmanship displayed between players.

Division 2 Girls

Participating schools in the Div 2 girls competition were Guildford, Ellenbrook, Mandurah CC, John XXIII and St Stephen’s Duncraig.

Grand Final

The grand final was a thrilling game with both teams having excellent defences. Opportunities in the first half to score were limited and it wasn’t until the final 10 minutes into the second half that both teams started to make some decisive attacking moves that put the game on a knife edge. An opportunity inside the final minute almost sealed the victory, however, the game finishing in a thrilling 0-0 draw and having to be decided via penalties where Guildford were able to claim the nail-biting victory over John XXIII.

Division 1 Girls

Participating Schools in the Div 1 girls competition were Newman, Bunbury Grammar, Mercedes, Guildford Grammar, John XXIII and St Mark's.

Grand Final

The grand final was a brilliant game to watch with some elite talent taking to the field. St Mark’s started very strongly as they set out to claim back-to-back titles after their 2021 victory. An early St Mark’s goal could have easily broken the game, however after giving up an early score Ursula Frayne became extra determined and put a great passage together which eventually led to the 1-1 equalising goal. A fantastic second half strike was the decisive blow which lead to St Mark’s claiming back-to-back Division 1 titles.

Finals Results

Div 2: Guildford def John XXIII 0-0 (Penalties – Guildford).

Div 1: St Mark's def Ursula Frayne 2-1.

Congratulations to all girls involved across both divisions.
