Congratulations to all the ACC teams participating in the 2022 ACC Year 7 Super Series - Sam Kerr and Stan Lazaridis Football Shields.

The Year 7 Super Series held soccer carnivals across multiple metro venues including UWA Sports Park (girls) and Kingsway Regional Sporting Complex (boys). A fantastic day of soccer was played and despite the wet weather, all teams and players enjoyed the competition and chance to showcase their skills.

Sam Kerr Shield (Girls)

7 schools competed for the Sam Kerr Shield in 2022 and the competition was close throughout the initial rounds.

The carnival had some outstanding goals scored and some of the games went to the final minute of regulation time. Mercy College had a fantastic day and went through the carnival undefeated playing some outstanding team football across the 6 games. Mercy was pushed in a thrilling 1-0 victory over Corpus Christi in the game of the day. Corpus Christi and Sacred Heart produced some excellent performances across the day finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.

All girls’ teams played the carnival in the right spirit and enjoyed a great experience making new friends and memories with their Year 7 peers.

Stan Lazaridis Shield (Boys)

There were some thrilling games played in the preliminary rounds involving 15 schools across four pools.  The top placing schools played cross over finals later in the afternoon.

Mercy College topped Pool A over a determined Kolbe Catholic College. Pool B had CBC Fremantle come out on top with Emmanuel Catholic finishing 2nd. South Coast Baptist were very strong performers taking out Pool C and Kingsway Christian won Pool D in a tough three-way battle with Corpus Christi and St Norbert.

The stage was set for some fantastic semi-final games between the four top teams. South Coast Baptist and Mercy College had a bit more attacking flair and enough to win and progress into the grand final.

The final between Mercy and South Coast was fast and frenetic with plenty of opportunity for both teams to score. It was an even first 15 minutes as both teams battled to control the possession and field position. South Coast's excellent skill putting a pivotal goal just before half time. South Coast with a 1-0 lead continued to attack in the second half and scored an excellent 2nd goal that put the result beyond reach of Mercy. Mercy players never gave up trying and had opportunities late in the game but some excellent goal keeping kept the score in favour of South Coast.

Sam Kerr Girls Shield Final Result: Mercy College (undefeated)
